"Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently."
Success built from an unlucky situation
"Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently." – Henry Ford said in the first half of the 20th century. But let’s face it: when starting an enterprise, nobody plans a pretty big failure right for the beginning, just to learn a lesson. However, that is what happened to us in 2002. At that time, CargoPlaza was a general freight company.
We made the best out of necessity
We set off with fully loaded trucks and, since we were well aware of our business interest, we also returned with fully loaded trucks. Then, one day, for some reason that was out of our scope, the goods to be delivered were not ready in time. So, we were there in Barcelona with an empty truck. We had no choice but to make the best out of this unpleasant situation: we split up our freight capacity and filled the truck with partial loads. The empty truck got filled up by 3 or 4 loads. First, there were no unnecessary idling costs. And second, we could even deliver goods to which the dealer could hardly find a freight because it required a lot of time and organisation.
A solution created from necessity
Necessity led us to the recognition that this solution is particularly beneficial for smaller companies which do not require full freight capacity. Plus, it is often more efficient and, due to a more optimal usage of cargo space, cheaper than traditional freight methods. Needless to say, this is also a much more environmentally friendly solution than freighting with half empty trucks for much higher costs, covering a much longer distance.
